News: The Sims 4 missing features

The next edition of a popular series The Sims is bringing a lot of disappointment to the table. Many are discussing what seems to be a highly limited version of Sims 4 including the removal of pools, babies growing up and various other features that have mostly been in the other iterations. There are reports of over 80 missing features in the game which is releasing on September 4th.

MAJOR MISSING FEATURES: (All were in base versions of Sims 3)
No create a style (CAST) – NOT possible in future expansions

No modifications to world/public spaces – The park in the demo is a mix of a community lot and public space
No “normal” careers – Law enforcement, Medical, Business, etc. were removed
No open world – You must incur a loading screen between each active lot; each neighborhood has 1-5 lots total
No pools
No terrain tools other than paint; everything is perfectly flat
No story progression – Sims in the neighborhood age, but do not have children, get jobs, move, get married…etc. without player intervention

No way to create/place new lots – And you only have 2 empty ones at the start of the game!

MAJOR CUT BACK FEATURES: (All were in base versions of Sims 3)

The thread got an incredible publicity and even a response from one of the creators of Sims 4:

But the conversation then changes into discussing what is or isn’t there and the minutiae of differences in each feature along some scale because the easiest way to try and understand something new is to compare and contrast it to what came before.

User bflury has created a separate website on tumblr that he claims to be updating constantly with news, for anything more or a changed list, feel free to visit

It is hard to predict why this list contains a lot of major gameplay features. Right now the list is still not 100% confirmed, and it may change upon release though it is unlikely. EA has been trying to reduce performance issues especially on weaker computers and this may help, especially reducing the size of the game and building lots, though then again knowing EA’s marketing strategy it may not be such an alien theory as to expect tons of DLCs that will fill in the gaps for a part of your wallet.

  • So sick of EA douchebaggery. What are their reasons for doing this? They said this will add truer to life personas for sims, but they are deleting a lot of what made the series great. A big fuck you to EA from me, They are not getting my money this time. Especially with all those dlc’s that I happily paid for on Sims 3.

  • To be honest, the game hasn’t been the same since the Sims2. Sims3 was great and had many good features, but Sims2 was the last reallllly good one. I find it funny that this one will be so basic.
